2021-2022 IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION SURVEY/ ENCUESTA DE INSTRUCCIÓN EN PERSONA 2021-2022

The 2021-2022 school year will begin on Wednesday, August 11. The Soledad Unified School District is planning to offer full in-person instruction, for all students on a daily basis. The district understands that some parents may still prefer to have their children stay home and participate in a virtual or independent study learning program. For the district's planning purposes we ask that parents complete one (1) survey for each of their children attending the Soledad USD. We ask that surveys be completed by Monday, June 21. Thank you in advance for completing the survey.

STEP UP MENTORING

Partners for Peace STEP-UP Mentoring will start its in-person season on May 26th at Silver Star Resource Center, 855 E. Laurel Dr. Bldg. H. Salinas, CA. Orientation dates (in English and Spanish) for parents/guardians and their youth (boys and girls) ages 11-14 will be held on May 26. Parents/Youth need to attend one of the orientation sessions. Between May and December, the mentees will learn to set goals, meet new friends, and go on field trips to explore careers and learn life skills for success. Our program uses the YELL program (Youth Engaged in Leadership and Learning) created by Stanford University. This curriculum supports young people and the adults who work with them to be responsible. Being responsible requires skills, knowledge, and a deepened understanding of oneself and the contexts in which one lives and grows. The activities in this curriculum encourage skill and knowledge building around three areas, all common to diverse styles of leadership: 1. COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS 2. ANALYTIC AND CRITICAL REFLECTION 3. POSITIVE INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY AFFAIRS.

Our goal is to have youth STEP UP and out of the life circumstances that limit their options. STEP UP mentors help youth reach their potential through a weekly, 7-month, group mentoring program, 5:30-7:30. Homework help is available from 4-5:30. This youth program is designed to encourage positive behavior choices and increase school success.
